Okay, I said I didn’t think I could watch it after the program killed off my favorite; Marion. So, the DVR was set to record the show and but I didn’t watch it until this morning.
The first scene Robin(Jonas Armstrong) was rabid with vengeance, his face contorted to the point that Robin becomes almost unrecognizable. Of course we know he is going to challenge Sir Guy Gisborne(Richard Armitage). The fight begins full force and Robin is a raging machine. Here come some of the Sheriff’s men as backup. At that point the camera moved to a close up on a little girl in purple. Guy grabs a little girl and uses her as a shield. What a cheap plot trick, we all know Guy to be a nasty piece of work and we had some sympathy for him because of his love for Marion. But that sympathy died with Marion. Guy knows he can fight Robin to the death, why grab a little girl as a shield. It is a true coward’s trick and Guy may be a bit of a social climber and power tripper by keeping sides with the Sheriff but he is not a coward.
Once the plot moved on a bit as Guy once more kills Robin but no…we see a new character Friar Tuck(David Harewood) to the rescue. The episode moves along nicely after that and I found myself caught up with Robin and his men once again. They lead us to the end of the episode to the weekly face-off in the town square. It’s Robin or his band of men to the aid of whomever is being tortured by the Sheriff.
I love the bits where the Sheriff quips about homeland security and terrorist. It is these little asides that makes the show more interesting and I always look for the campy and dark humorous bits.
I really enjoyed David Harewood, he moves effortlessly into the show. David was very real with his portrayal of the Friar. He is really smooth and you know he understands the character, not only, that he is a bit dishy too. So, I guess I am hooked again and will watch the final season.
