10 rules for the New Year to keep you sane, healthy and happy.

1-If you can't pay cash for it, don't buy it. Simple rule in this economy, huh? Learning to live debt-free even if you have to go without can be empowering. YOU are in charge of your money.

2-If you don't want it on your hips, don't pass it through your lips. Eat less, exercise more. Walk to work, take stairs and pass up in between meals.

3-If you want to be loved, be lovable. Being a kind, thoughtful person makes people want to be around you. Stay positive and focus on all the good around you.

4-Make each day fun-worry less, laugh more,be like a kid and get on the floor. Rent a funny movie, chase the kids, play frisbee with the dog, it's so good for your emotional and physical health to laugh and relax.

5-Be grateful and thankful .It always gets you more to be grateful for.Don't look at what is over the fence, no matter what shade of green it is. YOUR perfect world is right in front of you. Be thankful for it.

6- Learn something new every day.Could be reading, taking a class or just chatting with friends, but make a sincere effort to learn a new skill, a new fact or something completely out of the ordinary for you.

7-Try something new once in a while. It can't hurt. Whether it be a sport, a food, a different type of book. Who knows? You may make a new lifelong habit.

8-Talk less, listen more. We all have problems, no need to go on about them. Listening is golden.

9-Remember the glass is always half full: it really doesn't serve us to be anything other than optimistic. Don't worry about things that have not happened.

10-Never give up on your dreams.As it's said: If you can dream it,you can achieve it. Everything you have always wanted is possible. Now go create it and make 2011 your best year yet!
