Rumor: Sprint Offers Unlimited Data Plan For Iphone 5
AT&T and Verizon are being totally outdone by Sprint’s move. According to Todd Wasserman, Mashable.com, “AT&T and Verizon will offer the phone with tiered pricing plans. AT&T’s plan ranges from 200 megabytes of data for $15 a month to 4 gigabytes for $45 a month. Verizon’s plans range from $30 for 2 gigabytes to $80 for 10 gigabytes. Both offer unlimited voice plans for the iPhone for $69.99 a month. AT&T scrapped its $30 a month unlimited data plan in June 2010. Some veteran AT&T customers were grandfathered in under the unlimited data plan.” I have an unlimited package through Verizon, but again, it is because I was grandfathered in. The iPhone 5 may save Sprint. Last quarter Sprint lost $847 million, mostly because customers switched to AT&T and Verizon so they could get an iPhone. Sprint also just joined the Justice Department in blocking the AT&T – T-Mobile merger. Are you planning to buy the new iPhone 5? Which carrier do you use? Are you considering switching to Sprint? I currently use Verizon since I live in a rural area, Sprint and AT&T don’t have good coverage up here. It’s too bad since I pay $129 per month for unlimited voice and data. Sprint’s $99 would be much nicer if it worked in my area. I have the Motorola Droid X, through Verizon, and because of both coverage and as I mentioned earlier, the grandfathered in unlimited data plan, I will be sticking with Verizon. I am not very excited about the new iPhone 5. Since the battery isn’t easily replaced, and there is no extended life battery for the iPhone, I will stick with my Droid X. I have the 2600mAh Droid X extended battery and am pleased with how long I can go between charges. If you aren’t an iPhone fan, consider either getting an extended battery or a spare battery for your Smartphone so you won’t feel like you have been struck by the Smartphone battery vampire league.
