My company does SEO for people, Every time i get to talk to somone about this service 9 times out of 10 they have been burned by some dodgy SEO telesales caller. SEO is the greatest thing to happen to business marketing ever. Like most buisness people i have tried newpapers, magazines, even TV, but in a nut shell SEO surpasses them all. Read on.
Why Is SEO So Good
SEO is good in many ways but for one it is cheap compared to other methods of Marketing, If you take a newpaper as an example, you would pay about £180 per week for a 1/4page in your local newpaper. this has a target of 56000 readers but lets be honest the newspaper has hyped that up but households etc so realistically about 30000 readers. My Uptake on advertising was 0.01%, This would give me three enquiries if i was lucky. SEO does take some time and alot of patients, but when it is complete, if SEO is every complete, you could be getting anything from a few hundred people per month to millions hitting your website, but the key is that they are activly serching for what you have to offer, that is what you call pin point marketing at its best. Compare that in cost to your solitary newspaper you would save money and make money at the same time. SEO can make you very rich, very quickly but done wrong it can make you very poor very quickly.
The Problem
SEO companies are targeting businesses with Telesales, there is nothing wrong with that method of approach except what they are saying to the customers." We will Guarantee, We will , we will, you will" etc. I have nothing against a hard sell but i have alot against lying to customers about what they will and wont achieve. If this continues SEO wil be seen like any other scam that has taken the world by storm then died.
