Saddle Bags For Your Cycle

If you’re taking your car on a road trip – there’s all kinds of preparations that should be made to make the trip a memorable one. Getting out the maps, making the list of essentials for the trip, and getting it all together in the trunk or on the top rack, that’s half the fun!

But if you think preparations are essential for riding in a car across the country, you’d better think about even greater preparations for a trip on the back of your motorcycle. You only have a limited amount of space, and whatever you bring must be absolutely critical for your comfort or pleasure.

Road trips on the back of a cycle, for more than a day, without a question require saddle bags. With so many people taking to the road these days, saddle bags have been developed in a variety of shapes and capacities, and there are plenty of styles out there to fit your bike’s shape and style. Most often they are available in leather or PVC, but some prefer the hard side bags to protect the contents in case of accidents or unexpected impacts from the side. Some saddle bags may come with the bike, or some can be ordered separately as the situation may require.

In addition to saddle bags for clothing and food, there are also bags for tools, windshield bags, and sissy bar bags. All have a unique function and purpose.

If you are on the road a great deal, maybe you should consider something a little more accommodating than saddle bags. Lately, motorcycle trailers have become very popular. These are easy to pull, and trail the bike without any problem. But most important, they provide the additional space for long trips so that things can be purchased and carried rather than having to pay the high price of buying things on the road.

In addition to saddle bags, make sure that you have a good leather motorcycle jacket. If you are going on long road trips and have a jacket that does not fit, has zippers and snaps that are hard to open or close, or a jacket that does not provide the protection that you need for different types of weather conditions that you may encounter during your travel – an otherwise great trip can be miserable. Make sure you have a pair of leather gloves and chaps – bugs and debris can injure a biker faster than anything else, and can be easily avoided with these articles of clothing.
