Safari Holidays Hotspots

Africa's wildlife is unique. Safari lovers are mesmerized by this untamed continent and they have good reasons to be so. The word alone – safari – has a magical effect upon any child's mind, giving birth to dreams of adventures, discoveries and freedom on an unknown land neighboring the edge of the Earth. Those of us with an acute sense of adventure prefer to use their holidays as an excuse for pleasing their eyes with the infinite blue of the African sky and quench their thirst for wild animals on the endless veldt.

In time, safari evolved from big-game hunting to a variety of types. Nowadays it refers to trips to Africa for observing big cats and other wildlife and experiencing life in the open. People can enjoy safari on water, on horseback, from a balloon or simply by walking. Besides choosing the type of trip they would rather make, people have to decide upon the destination as well. Africa is not a small spot on a map and its spectacular wilderness can be admired from many different safari holiday locations.

Scattered all over the wild continent, national parks and reserves cater for the delight of the eye and soul. They are the main safari holidays destinations. One of them is Tanzania's Serengeti ecosystem. Being very wide (around 30,000 square kilometers), tourists can enjoy wildlife without having too many socializing opportunities. The open terrain is perfect for the fastest animal on land – the cheetah – which needs obstacle-free space to reach its maximum speed while chasing its prey. Serengeti is also the host of the largest mammal migration in the world.

Another holiday destination that safari lovers should not overlook is the Masai Mara Reserve, in Kenya. The migration of wildebeest can also be witnessed here. Zambia should be on your safari holidays list too. South Luangwa National Park there is worth visiting. The great variety of animals and birds will surely impress you. If you do not wish to totally give up the comfort of a home, you will be pleased to discover the lodges available at your destination. You can find them in wild places like Zambia or South Africa.

Such lodges are placed in convenient locations, as close to natural parks or reserves as possible. In South Africa, for instance, you will find them in the proximity of the old Kruger National Park. Visitors of this ecosystem can use cars to move around or to photograph and observe the Big Five game animals, all present in the Kruger National Park.
