Safe Speed And Safetly Belts

There are even cars now that have features that will automatically bring your seatbelt across your body. This is just sheer fact that the numbers show that seat belts save lives. This combined with driving at safe speeds not only will have keep your life out of danger but it will also help in the safety of others.

In April of 2009, the National Highway Safety Administration released statistics that stated that in 2008 that highway traffic deaths were at their lowest since 1961. Secretary Ray LaHood went on record and stated that individual states and their efforts to make drivers wear seatbelts was the reason that fatalities were at their lowest. Michigan had the highest seat belt rate at 98 percent where Massachusetts was the lowest at 67 percent. Laws in states regarding seat belts have lowered fatalities but regardless you should always wear a seat belt when you are driving or riding in a vehicle. The statistics prove that they are helpful.

Driving at safe and posted speeds also do their work as far as preventing fatalities and assuring the safety of others. The best thing to do is stay at the posted speed. 55 mph on any road is by far the safest speed to travel. Are you in a rush to get somewhere? Why do want to go 20 miles over the speed limit while everybody else is traveling at a proper speed. You are doing nothing but setting yourself up for disaster. It is definitely speed that is the reason that causes most accidents. When ever you are behind the wheel of a vehicle you should always keep the safety of others in mind. Repsect others on the road just like you would want others to respect your health and safety.

No matter if you are traveling long or short distances, you should always wear your seatbelt and always travel at a safe and reasonable speed. You should not only think about yourself but always think about the welfare of others on the road. When you do this you are assuring others and yourself that you are a responsible driver when you are behind the wheel. You cannot stress it enough, ALWAYS WEAR YOUR SEATBELT WHEN YOU ARE BEHIND THE WHEEL AND ALWAYS TRAVEL AT SAFE SPEEDS!!!!
