Safety First Mum Buys Digital Baby Alarm

It is a exciting period when you know you are in the family way. This will be my first child. There is a lot to do. From decorating the spare bedroom to obtaining all the things that makes life easier for me and Dad to be, and most important, safe for the baby. My first anxiety is to make sure, (when the time comes) that baby will be kept safe and remain healthy while baby thrives and grow.

There is so much baby equipment out there, from thermometers to digital baby alarms, from stair gates to car seats; working out what is essential for your home and life style can be challenging. To find it all on one website with lots of comments from other parents helps me make an informed decision on what's truly good value and would suite baby and our life style. Products that are reliable and do what they say on the tin are crucial when it comes to baby's safety both inside and outside the home. Sueing a manufacturer if things go wrong is no comfort if the product fails when it could result in baby being injured. A customer tested product that has a spotless record is the bare minimum as far as baby's safety is concerned.

The first thing I need to get is a monitor for baby (like a digital baby alarm). I want to know that baby is asleep and still breathing (when things at last go quiet), be warned when they stir and need care. That's when Dad can go and see if it's suckling time or nappy changing time. We talked about splitting the duties and Dad has the nappy changing and I have baby brought to me when they need suckling. So I do the bit that he can't and he helps with the bit that he can do . Sounds like a good deal to me!

The re-organising of the house for baby's arrival took us a long time. It will be a while before we need the stair gates but have decided to buy all the essentials in one go as we have the funds. We had fun trying out the digital baby alarm, with Dad pretending to be baby. Nothing new there then, comment by me did not seem to be appreciated but did make me laugh! We tested the digital baby alarm out over several days by setting an alarm clock in the room. The one we went for came with a portable parent unit with a range of 300 meters. This meant I could pocket it while around the house and did not have to be near the base unit all the time. The sound quality is fantastic and means I can hear everything and even talk back to baby, or play a MP3 tune that they like or even plug in a CD player. The parent unit comes with a handy flash light which means that I do not have to turn the light on and wake up baby unnecessarily.

It's been amusing trying out all the features and learning all about our digital baby alarm; now can't postpone any longer trying it out on the actual thing as Dad is beyond doubt not interested any longer.
