Sales Techniques-predicting The Future

Predicting the future does not mean that you have to go out and learn to become a psychic. You do however have to learn your company and your customers.

If someone calls you wanting to buy a sample of hand cream, you know that they will be back in a week or so wanting more. You can suggest that they go ahead and get a bigger bottle that is cheaper in the long run. If your company has an auto delivery that will automatically deliver the product to them every few months you can suggest that as well. This is a double-win situation as you be saving the customer money and knowing that you will have repeat sales.

Another way to predict the future is to know the customers and what they commonly order. If you have a large business this could be a little difficult, but it is possible. Know when they are due to run out and make a follow up call to see if they want more.

You have to also know your company. When are they having a sale? What are they having on sale? Sometimes, some of the products are just not selling well and they are going to be discontinued. You can tell the customers that use these products about the discontinuation of their product so they can buy more before they have to find another product that they like in its place.

You also must know your competition. What are they offering now? Are they having a sale? What are they offering? How cheap are they selling it for? This way you can make adjustments in your business.

A good way to stay in touch with your customers is a newsletter or e-mail that you send out periodically telling them about sales and any other interesting information about your company and products. You can also stay in touch through phone calls or text messaging.

Doing your homework may sound like a lot of work, but you should consider it a part of your personal development and a way to make your home based business successful. In school most people hated it. But, now you have to realize in business the only way to succeed is to learn. The more you know, the more you grow. This time the growing will be a successful business that has you at the head.

Predicting the future can be easier than you thought, as long as you do your homework. No crystal ball required. Find out everything you can about your company, customers, and products, and read, read, read.
