Sonora has diverse ecosystems and because of this, tourist will have great array of recreational including fishing, mountain biking, scuba diving, ecotourism, camping, and hunting that can be enjoyed all over the area.

The state also features colonial destinations such as the Alamos. The city boasts historical areas such as the Alamos Historical Monuments and others. A group of 188 structures are declared monuments by President Zedillo just by the year 2000. The area is usually visited by those who want to research. Alamos can also be an enjoyable vacation because they feature a list of fiestas and events. A long list of special holidays is passionately celebrated in the city, from the Day of the Dead, to Christmas, to other celebration of patron saints and traditional Mexican holidays.
