Schizoaffective Disorder - Mood Disorder

Schizoaffective disorder, one can understand this disorder well or can defined as there are other mental health disorders. In this disorder condition, person experience the sign and symptoms of schizoaffective disorder like hallucinations or delusions and the mood disorder signs such as depression or mania. To get diagnosis over this disorder, you need to consult with psychiatrist to confirm the diagnosis. To get the diagnosis with schizoaffective disorder, you should have the disorder symptoms in the period of normal mood for at least 2 weeks. Symptoms of this disorder you can get to see in the other disease like bipolar disorder. Extensive disturbance in the mood is also a major part of Schizoaffective. Your psychiatric should take consideration and rule out medical, psychiatric and drug-related conditions which affect on mood symptoms before you do diagnosis. For example mood disorder can happen in taking steroid, abuse cocaine a having seizure disorder.

Treatment on this disorder is depends; which medication will be helpful for you to improve your mood, all this your psychiatric can decide. To treat psychotic symptoms, antipsychotic medication is used and to improve your mood by antidepressant medications or 'mood stabilizers'.
