Searching For A Quiet Place-2

I always had a reading spot that was comfortable and inviting. When you like to read there is nothing better than having your own spot. A place with a lamp, a comfortable chair that everyone knew was yours, and some kind of plants to help give you some fresh oxygen was my ideal spot. From there I could read, do my art or rock my son. It was a place of peace and quietness.

Some people enjoy their morning cup of coffee while sitting around the kitchen table or being in their favorite spot. Having a hot drink, surrounded by a few memorable objects, and being able to think about the past, present or future, is one of life's best gifts. Now that my children are older, I have a glass cabinet that displays the different objects and pictures of my children. That is my favorite spot to reminisce about my past and remember the wonderful feelings I had when each child gave me a keepsake that was personal between us.

Our family has always loved the outdoors and when the weather is good, I get an urge to be one with nature. I either walk around our yard looking at the flowers and watching the birds, or I take a walk in my neighborhood to feel the air and listen to the sounds of nature. I often just stop while I am doing this and close my eyes and take several deep breaths. Filling my lungs with oxygen helps to restore my energy and makes me feel renewed. I can easily find the peaceful quiet place inside me when I am tuned in to nature.

Another relaxing, quiet place is sitting in the backyard, on a patio, deck or in a gazebo. You can watch birds flying to the feeders or watch squirrels running and playing with each other. If you want to add some real atmosphere, you could have a small fountain running so you could be one with a waterfall. The tinkling of water is very relaxing and can make your backyard seem like a retreat. In our gazebo, we have a fan and radio so we can change the mood at will and be comfortable no matter what the weather. Because I love flowers and plants, I always surround myself with them wherever I sit.

We all have places in our homes and lives that we feel most comfortable. All we need to do is look around us and choose the place we want to claim as "our" relaxing spot. Then all you need to do is add your own personal touches to make it yours. I hope that some of these ideas will trigger memories for you and help you pick a perfect place for relaxing during your quiet time.
