To the extreme north of Finland lies Lapland, a beautiful place which is becoming highly popular among tourists. Lapland is known as the land of fells and northern lights. It experiences extreme temperatures and heavy snowfall. But it has four distinct seasons. And Lapland’s nature has plenty to offer. Its flora and fauna is diverse. A holiday in Lapland would be an ideal way to unwind your self.
The four seasons in Lapland, spring, summer, autumn and winter are distinctly separated.
Winter: The winter in Lapland lasts for almost half the year. Lapland experiences its first snowfall as early as in August but the snow is more after the month of November. The winter is marked by a twilight period as often the sun is not directly visible for a few months and there is no real daylight except for a few hours. The sparkling clean white snowscapes reflect the glowing northern lights. And to enjoy even the bleakness of wintertime, there are plenty of holiday activities throughout the season. Skiing, snowmobiling, sleigh rides, dog sledding and other enjoyable activities can be participated in.
Spring: During this time the snow gradually starts to melt and nature displays its splendor yet again. The birds chirping in the trees help lift up your spirits and the warmth spreading in the atmosphere is a welcome change after the chilly winter of Lapland. Time to head outdoors on a picnic or a short holiday and look forward to the warm summer season.
Summer: The warm and bright summer is also accompanied by the midnight sun. The sun stays above the horizon even during night now. Its time for the nightless night. The summer in Lapland is not as severe as elsewhere and the weather is pleasantly warm and comfortable. The nature now can be explored by indulging in hiking trips or even cycling trips or maybe you could go on a horse ride. You could also enjoy white water rafting or could canoe through the extensive rivers while you are holidaying in Lapland.
Autumn: After the warm and pleasant summer now nature starts preparing for the oncoming winter. The days get shorter and the leaves of the trees change color, painting a wonderful hue. It is a good time to explore the countryside of Lapland and revel in the nature’s beauty.
