Second Time Victim Uses Home Security Tape

A burglary victim from Georgia recently reported that it’s bad enough getting your valuable items stolen once but finding that an intruder has broken into your home a second time is even worse. The first time it happened the man and his wife, who had at one time run a photography business from their home lost all of the camera equipment they used for their business. Instead of replacing the equipment, they went out and bought a security system with video surveillance cameras.

Frequently a burglar will give the victim enough time after a break in to replace the stolen possessions and then they will return to make off with the new items. This particular victim did what law enforcement agencies recommend – he took proactive measures to protect his home and valuables. Unfortunately the perpetrator of the second break in was not caught in the act, but he was filmed by the home owner’s video surveillance cameras. The tape shows the suspect’s car parked in the driveway and a clear view of his face as he entered the house.

The investigator from the Bullock County Sheriff’s Office stated that eventually someone will identify the man or his car. The tape is being publicized in the community. The deputy also said that once the suspect is apprehended he won’t have much of a chance to deny he did it, since the tape clearly identifies him. He said the quality of the tape is better than many commercial security systems on the market can produce and agrees that “you get what you pay for.”

The victim of the crime is appalled that someone thinks it alright to break into the home of a person that works hard to take care of his family and steal his property. In the tape the suspect appears to know exactly where he is going, increasing the suspicion that he is the same culprit from the prior break in. He says does not have words to describe how it feels to have someone come into his home with the intent to burglarize it. He is one of an increasing number of home owners that are helping to fight the growing incidents of unwanted intrusions by installing a home security system. The victim said the expense of a security system far outweighs the cost of being burglarized.
