Select The Suitable Directory For You
1. Explore the internet A basic research would give you a good idea about which directory you should be planning to submit to. You would avoid the directories that are not suitable to your industry, location and specifications. Some criteria for selection would be: Dmoz and Yahoo listing Crawled by major search engines:- Good Google PR and Alex ranking Doesn’t use ‘nofollow’ tag Not many empty categories Quality 2. Tip of the iceberg Let this research take time and effort so you are thoroughly aware. Young directories mention big names from the industry to get a good impression for themselves. That doesn’t make good or bad directory. But it’s important to not be fooled by that. See the payment options with paid ones to see if there are any actual benefits to the idea than just the fluff on the internet. 3. Qualify the criteria Typically good and beneficial directory would have the standards and criteria that may appear time consuming and quite an effort. However, I want to assure you that though it would be worth it. Since a lot of businessmen would not be willing to go that extra mile to qualify, it would take load off about too much competition on the directory page and your name would come among the big names from the industry. There is actually no shortcut for this one. 4. Age of the directory There are conflicting opinions on the “Old is gold” rule as far as web directories are concerned. Though you would need to make a subjective opinion yourself, personally I think though old web directories give you better PR, young ones give it to you for free and they also grow old some time or the other. Simply put, young web directory is good idea if it does have the long term strategy and plan in place.
