From an employer's viewpoint, only the big-boys such as Microsoft, Cisco, CompTIA or Adobe (for instance) provide enough commercial weight. Nothing else hits the mark. Let's face it: There's very little evidence of individual job security anymore; there's only market and business security - a company will let anyone go when it fits the company's commercial needs. Security only exists now in a swiftly rising market, driven forward by a shortage of trained workers. These circumstances create the appropriate conditions for a higher level of market-security - definitely a more pleasing situation. Offering the computing industry as an example, the last e-Skills survey showed a skills gap across Great Britain in excess of 26 percent. Or, to put it differently, this shows that the United Kingdom can only locate three properly accredited workers for each four job positions that exist at the moment. Accomplishing proper commercial Information Technology certification is thus an effective route to achieve a continuing as well as worthwhile livelihood. While the market is evolving at such a quick pace, there really isn't any other area of industry worth investigating for a new career. Sell yourself... Make an effort to get yourself known. A job isn't just going to bump into you. 'Exam Guarantees' are often bundled with training offers - this always means you have to pay for the exams at the very beginning of your studies. Before you jump at guaranteed exams, look at the following: These days, we're a tad more knowledgeable about sales gimmicks - and most of us grasp that we're actually paying for it - they're not just being charitable and doling out freebies! Those who take exams one at a time, paying for them just before taking them are in a much stronger position to qualify at the first attempt. They are thoughtful of what they've paid and so are more inclined to make sure they're ready. Find the best exam deal or offer available at the time, and avoid college mark-up fees. You'll also be able to choose where to do your exams - so you can find somewhere local. Buying a course that includes payments for examinations (and if you're financing your study there'll be interest on that) is bad financial management. Why fill a company's coffers with your money just to give them a good cash-flow! Some will be pinning their hopes on the fact that you will never make it to exams - so they get to keep the extra funds. Also, exam guarantees often have very little value. The majority of organisations won't pay for you to re-take until you've completely satisfied them that you're ready this time. Shelling out hundreds or thousands of pounds on an 'Exam Guarantee' is short-sighted - when study, commitment and preparing with good quality mock and practice exams is what will get you through.
