Selling Your Laptop - Who Really Benefits?
The seller of course reaps the first and most obvious benefit, the money from the sale of the laptop. This could make it easier for them to purchase a new laptop, dispose of a laptop they are no longer using, or just get some easy cash that is really needed. What they need to be careful of to make they really benefit however, is ensuring their laptop has been cleaned of all their personal information. There are some other drawbacks for the seller as well that they may not be thinking of. First and foremost, computers and laptops are not nearly worth as much as they think they are. Technology advances at a very rapid pace, making your "new" laptop drop down in price the moment you take it out of the box. If buyers wanted to pay the price of a new laptop, they would buy one. They want a deal, and the seller could end up losing out if there is a lack of buyers willing to pay a premium price. Secondly, the demand is high, but so is the supply. Many people don't understand what things are important in order to ensure they get a quality piece of equipment. They see a "real bargain" and have no idea they are getting a bottom of the line, bare bones, basic laptop. Many also don't realize that the laptop they are buying has been picked apart, removing the great components and replacing them with the cheapest components available. The seller has to compete with these big sellers who can easily convince the buyer of the great deal they are getting, this drives down your price. The buyer of course reaps the benefits of a laptop that they need or want. They can get a great deal and if they are careful, can get a very quality piece of equipment from an honest person. If the seller can show that their laptop is the better choice and takes their time to find a buyer who is willing to pay a fair amount for it, everyone benefits in the end. Even the planet benefits as the amount of re-use of old laptop equipment goes up.
