Serve Life And Thrive

On your life's quest, you always are searching for answers to questions about things you just can't seem to understand. This is an important aspect of your self-growth and awareness. I continuously tell my students, to be a good student you have to ask questions and good ones at that. If you're not asking questions then you are not seeking the knowledge you need to learn and grow.

The next important step in the process is to keep your ears and eyes open for the answers. Most of the time you don't know where they are coming from so you need to be prepared for when they arrive. For years, I have been trying to put the pieces of the puzzle together as to 'What am I doing here? , 'How does life work?', 'Is there really something bigger than us out there?' and 'Does this higher power really support us and have a purpose for us or do things just occur at random?

I'm sure these questions run through all our minds at some time and we think we're never going to find the answers and well most of the time we won't. But as I said before as long as we're asking the questions we're moving closer to the answers. Sometimes though answers will arrive when you are fully open and prepared to hear them. The old saying goes 'When the student is ready the teacher will appear'

Listening to Yossi Ghinberg's story was somewhat a journey of growth and awareness for me but the completed effect was to appear when I heard how he finally was rescued. It was a defining moment for me and one that will forever stay in my memory with such slarity.I felt myself open up to lightness, conviction and a deep understanding of what life is all about.

Yossi, exhausted and in deep agony, was struggling to keep alive. He had heard the sound of a plane flying overhead and knew someone was searching for him. He had to find a path to the river bank and get to a clearing so that he may be seen, as it was impossible for him be noticed from the dense floor of the jungle.

The plane flying ahead was his friend Kevin who had managed to make it back to a village and begged for help. Reluctantly someone agreed to fly a plane over the rainforest to search for Yossi but of course nothing could be seen. Kevin though would not give up, he knew Yossi was alive and he had to find his friend He begged the villagers to take him upriver in a small motorized canoe to look for him. Obviously, the villagers said no. They thought Kevin was mad. 'He's dead," they told him. It's the rainy season, he is lost and he is a gringo. None of us could survive and we know this jungle" Kevin also didn't have any money to give for the petrol and this was a poor village.

Kevin though would not give up, he just knew Yossi was alive and kept persisting. Eventually one man decided to help out Kevin. Who knows why, something inside of him drove him to help him, despite the fact that really believed that Yossi was dead. 120 miles they travelled upstream. The driver kept wanting to go back as it was getting too perilous but Kevin kept beseeching to continue, "Just one more bend, please, just one more bend"

Meanwhile Yossi had found an open clearing near the river bank and made his way to it. He no longer heard the signs of the plane and so defeated, he collapsed by the river bank just behind some small bushes. In his confusedand exhausted state he heard a buzzing hum in his ears and thought it was those insects that persisted in tormenting him and so did not pay it much attention.

Eventually the boatman had to say enough, it was getting far too dangerous, he had to turn the boat around. He pulled the canoe up to the bend and began to turn it around. Kevin broke down into tears, he knew that all hope was gone, that his friend wa dead. The boat turned and slowly started to make it's way back home.

At that same instant, the persistent buzzing sound managed to snap Yossi out of his bewilderedstate and he realized what the sound was. The hum of a motorboat. He popped his head up over the reeds and saw Kevin in the boat, with his back to him, moving away. He was in shock and in such a bad condition that he could not even shout out Kevin's name and he just watched as his one hope of rescue moved away downriver Then for some reason, Kevin turned his head for one final gaze in the jungle and in that turn saw Yossi's head popping out over the reeds.

The tears ran down my face, for in that very same instant my questions were answered and I understood the meaning of life and my heart opened up to the truth. That being that there is a power at work that is far greater than me. I don't understand it but I don't have to. All I need to know is that it's there and it is serving a higher purpose and I'm a part of it and that is awesome. I am part of the perfect plan of the Universe. I serve a purpose just by being alive.

Life is perfect and everything that happens, happens perfectly whether we like it or not. It is all part of a design that serves a superior purpose. Yossi's rescue was not a fluke or a coincidence. There was a greater force working here to put everything in place for that one turn of Kevin's head and that one pop up of Yossi's. Timed to utter perfection.

Yossi's rescue from the Amazon has allowed him to use all he learned to change the lives of so many people and to make this world a better place. That is why he lived throughexperienced those harrowing circumstances. He was strong enough to survive and wise enough to learn the lessons and then do something effective with them.

Because of Yossi I learned to give up the 'me' story. It's not about me, my ego and all my ego wants. It's about life and the higher purpose. Life serves life, and I am an instrument to help it grow. Life will support me and you to become more but you have to serve life. When you begin to live your life from this place amazing things will happen for you. You just have to trust in the perfection of everything that is happening in your life right now. It might not seem like that to you if you've just lost your house or job but it's all part of serving your higher purpose.

In coming to this realization, my worries and problems seemed to fade away and get smaller. I was able to trust that something perfect was happening here and to let it go and soon that instant will come when I will be rescued and will be propelled into my destiny. The same goes for you. Just let it go and trust in the perfection of life. Remove yourself from the equation and recognize the life force that runs so powerfully through you. When you can open yourself up for this truth,, you allow this life to flow freely from you with such power. Things will get clear for you and come sharply into focus and you will know what you need to do to serve life.

Halfway through Yossi's talk during the break I met him and he gave me a hug. I felt something so powerful in his embrace, something so warm, so peaceful and so loving. It stayed with me for so long and I couldn't work out what it was until I had this aha moment. It was life that was coming out from him so powerfully. And life is warm, peaceful, loving, supportive and kind. It supports you, raises you up and allows you to live purposefully when you open up to it.
