Setting Up Goals

The difference between a goal and a dream is the written word.
-Gene Donohue

Goal setting is a process for thinking about your ideal future, to motivate yourself and to turn your vision into reality. This kind of process helps you choose what you want in life. By knowing what you want to achieve you can then concentrate your efforts which can help in a certain type of goal. You can spot and prevent those that don’t help in your goals for the future.

Goal setting is a long term vision and only requires a short term motivation. It helps you organize your time and your resources so that you can make the most out of your life. And by achieving these goals you can raise your self-confidence by recognizing your own ability and competence.

So start planning your goals by creating a big picture in your mind of what you want to do with your life in the next ten years. Break it down to smaller goals that you can be able to reach in a short period of time. This would become the stepping stone that will become higher and higher until you reach the bigger goal. Then once you have set up your plan, start working on it to achieve the goals. Start moving towards your smaller goals today and work on those others tomorrow and continue on to achieve your goals and see the progress you have made.

There are many things that you wanted to achieve in life. May it be in career, financial, education, family, artistic ability, attitude, physical, pleasure and in public service. But you need to do this one at a time. Select only those which is the most important thing of your life that you want to achieve, so that you can manage your time and achieve your goals in a short period of time.

So set your goals now. Write it in a piece of paper and make some notes on what you’re going to do first to achieve your goals and see it progress in the future.
