Shooting Wedding Pictures

Capturing everything that happens on the wedding day is every couples dream as they can be looked at over and over again; although digital wedding photography is usually carried out by a professional, you can guarantee a large number of people will have their cameras with them. DVD's have replaced ‘video' and digital photography ‘film' but that does not stop people from enjoying printed still images!

If you want to take photographs of your friend's or relations wedding then you will have to do it on your own because you won't have an assistant like the professionals have. With the information here you may find taking photographs with a digital camera at a wedding a little easier.

Firstly, if you want to take a picture of the couple or any other guest, make sure that the background is good and the shot will not be too crowded. Don't worry too much if you can't get a full body shot of the couple as you can get around this problem by taking a portrait shot of them which will solve the problem.

Try to get guests that have spectacles on to either remove them or hold their head at an angle so that there isn't a reflection obscuring their eyes. If there is someone in the group that you particularly want to take a photograph of but they are in a crowd then try using the zoom, it will give a good close-up that you wouldn't achieve any other way.

Natural, wedding photos always look better than staged ones but difficult to capture when you are too close so a powerful zoom lens is a great advantage. To avoid missing what will probably be great shots, don't put your camera down because with digital wedding photography you can guarantee the moment you do, something worthwhile will take place.

The last thing you want to happen is for your digital camera to have half charged batteries and a memory card that is already half full as it will restrict how many shots you can take. For 6 mega pixel cameras and up, the absolute bare minimum should be a 1 gigabyte card, preferably 2 gigabytes and always use the highest resolution your camera can manage if the images are to be printed.

High resolution images are generally clearer and have greater color depth but it also means they can be printed out at larger sizes. This is achieved by saving the images to your computer where you can print them out at your leisure on special photographic paper.

Photography is an art form that many people try to master, just like painting but how well your digital wedding photography images of the day come out will be down to your passion for photography.
