Shopping Second Hand On Ebay
Another category of sellers on eBay that tends to offer good bargains are importers from Hong Kong or China. Because of the fixed currency conversion and the inexpensiveness of their sending the packages to the US, they tend to mark up much less than retailers who need to mark up their goods based on the expected storage time in retail space in the US and order speculatively. However, it is best to purchase such items from sellers who have eBay storefronts and have had a large number of successful sales with good reviews, as it is relatively difficult to pursue claims overseas. The price is not always directly indicative of quality, so do not dismiss apparently expensive items selling for extremely cheaply as being of inferior quality. However, there are multiple sellers, both domestic and overseas, who charge extra for shipping and handling and make their profit there, rather than the listed price of the item. It is therefore imperative to consider shipping charges, whether the seller is sending it express or by a comparatively slow method, and whether or not you will require insurance when figuring out the total cost of an item. A one cent price for a four dollar item is no bargain if shipping adds eight dollars to the total. However, another thing that must be taken into consideration in this respect is that many sellers are also willing to combine shipping, reducing the overall cost, if multiple items are purchased from a single seller to be shipped to a single address. Another trick for purchasing undervalued items from private sellers is to deliberately misspell the search term; most buyers will be looking for correctly spelled items, so a misspelled item is likely to receive fewer bids.
