Sign language happens to be one of the most primitive means of communication amongst the human beings. We can trace out the initial evidences of sign language in cave men that inhabited the earth some ten thousand years back. Sign language happens to be the pioneer of oral communication. This can be considered quite opposite of the myth that oral language started earlier than the sign language.
Sign language is present among the human being even when the modern human being did not even know how to speak. One of them is when a person knows which way he is moving his body and what does he indicate to the people around him, and this is somewhat a conscious effort to convey his feelings without using words or a combination of both.
Second type is when unknowingly a person gives indications of what is happening to him or what are his feelings for example a child covering his mouth immediately after speaking a lie. So both of these types are form of body language and are used by all human beings in some or the other form, in clusters or alone in a varying intensity. In adult human beings the sign language or the body language is much refined one.
Now we have a brief idea about how sign language actually evolved. We can even see this sign language happening between a new born baby and the mother. Initially when the kid is not able to speak he gives indications to his mother about his requirements. One of the most important manner in which the sign language is used is communications among the deaf and dumb. This is the only source of communication between them and the sign language is taught in each and every deaf and dumb school.
These days there are special training institutes who simply work on producing quality trainers who have all the skill to teach the deaf and dumb people. Sign language used by deaf and dumb is the most sophisticated version using fingers and hands. They convey their message very fast and in an effective manner.
Each one of uses sign language but quite interestingly we are not aware of how effectively we use it. We communicate with our friends and family people in sign language.
It is a great fun using sign language when we crack jokes on our friends, communicating something which we do not want others to hear. Most extensively the sign language can be seen being used in a library where people are supposed to remain silent and still communicate with each other. Sign language has a tremendous use in the armed forces during various operations in which a soldier has to maintain his silence and still communicate with his comrades in a manner that the enemy doesn’t realize.
