Significance Of Dumbledore’s Death
A very important and significant character of the novel is professor Dumbledore. He is the noblest yet quick-witted and glorious character in the movie. He acts as Harry’s guardian and is very protective of him. His character is quiet a prominent one since the beginning of the series as he is the headmaster of the Hogwarts School Of Witch Craft And Wizardry. He is a world renowned wizard and wizards hold him in great esteem and honor his word. Richard Harris is playing the character of Dumbledore. He has played it quiet well and the expression and acting skills are worth appreciating. Previously the role was being played by Michael Gambon. Harry has a special place in his heart for him, and is extremely close to him and enjoys his company greatly. He feels content and safe whenever the headmaster is around. After the return of Lord Voldemort, things changed vastly. Professor Dumbledore tried every strategy to keep Harry away from the Dark Lord and protects him until his sixth year at Hogwarts. During his sixth year at Hogwarts Dumbledore teaches him to counteract against all the strategies Lord Voldemort is likely to use. He teaches Harry some special tricks and takes him on trips to various memories collected from different people to make him clearly understand the dark past of the Dark Lord. First, he takes his help in convincing professor Slughorn to come and teach at Hogwarts. The professor possesses a special memory, which Dumbledore wants and he trains Harry to get it. After all the efforts, Harry and professor Dumbledore finally discover a very dark secret of Horcruxes related to the existence of the Dark Lord and finally make a plan to finish him off in seven steps. Each step is different and precarious traps are set by the Dark Lord to protect these Horcruxes. In Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince Dumbledore takes up the challenge of finishing off parts of the Dark Lord’s soul and Harry accompanies him. When they both return, the dark forces enter the castle and kill Dumbledore leaving Harry completely alone and helpless in the world. Dumbledore’s death leaves a great significant mark on his memory, and it becomes his strength in fighting off the Dark Lord. The anger and strength that Harry possess comes from this event and he continues on his mission after the headmaster’s death. Thus, Dumbledore’s death leaves a great mark on the whole of the wizardry world and numerous people and creatures come to pay tribute to him. After his death, Harry decides to leave the school and not to return. This is the saddest event in the novel.
