Signs That You Need A New Mattress

Comfort is one of the most important parts of getting a good night sleep, and the mattresses you sleep on will play a large role in your comfort at night. You will usually be able to tell when your mattress is well beyond time to change it, but that will be after months of being uncomfortable and possibly in pain. In order to be sure that you get a new mattress as soon as you need it, here are some things to factor in to your considerations:

Your mattress is simply uncomfortable. If you consistently wake up in the morning with a crick in your neck or your back is in pain, then you can know that your mattress needs to be changed as soon as possible.

Your mattress is sagging in the middle. When you sleep on it, your body puts pressure on the centre of the mattresses more than the sides. The centre will usually start sagging first, and once this happens you can know it’s time to get a new one.

You have some changes in your sleeping pattern. One thing that will force you to buy a new mattress is starting to sleep with someone else. Sleeping with someone else distributes the pressure placed on the mattress, and thus will affect the way you sleep. You may find that trying to recover from an injury or surgery will force you to sleep in a different position than normal, and thus you will need to purchase a new mattress that will make it more comfortable to do so.

You feel more comfortable sleeping out. Hotel beds are usually fairly comfortable, and they are designed to give you a good night’s sleep. However, if you feel more comfortable in hotel beds than you do in your own, you may want to consider changing out your mattress for one of the mattresses used by hotels.

You get older. As you age, your body will change and thus the way you sleep will change as well. When you are younger, you can sleep on nearly anything and in any position. However, as you get older, you may need to sleep on a softer or firmer mattress than you are currently sleeping on, and you should ensure that your back is getting enough support.

Your mattress is too old. When mattresses get very old, they tend to start breaking and sagging. The springs may end up sticking into your back, and it will be very uncomfortable to sleep on an old mattress. The new mattresses tend to be much more comfortable, and you should consider changing an old mattress for a new and more comfortable one.

Your mattress is poor quality. When a mattress is poor quality, it may cause allergies, back pains and other problems when you sleep. The new hypoallergenic mattresses are designed to be as high quality as possible, and thus are a better choice than your old ones.
