If you want to make more sales and money, you’ve to learn how to persuade someone to buy something from you. However a lot of tips nowadays are giving us the wrong information and spam us with fluff. That’s why I’m going to give you a simple but powerful persuasion technique that you can use to improve sales and profits.
One of the quick ways to persuade someone to buy something from you is by using a concept called “social influence”. Studies have shown that most of our behaviors are influenced by watching and following other people’s behavior. Parents, celebrities and people with high social ranking are easily followed and emulated as we watch other people’s behaviors and actions to guide us in life and decision making.
So how do you think this concept can be applied in boosting your sales and profits? Let me explain. Collect testimonials from past and happy customers and show it to new customers to see. They’ll be influenced and attracted to hear what you’re offering as their mind will start to ask “if others have benefited from using this product XYZ, of course I can benefit from it too”. Can you see how simple it is? That’s why you’ll see ad companies paying millions of dollars to top celebrities to perform in an advertisement so that they can influence, brainwash and persuade someone to buy something. I’m sure you’ve faced the same situation before in your life. How many times have you watched your friends using a particular cool product and silently but effectively influenced you to say “I should get this product too”.
You can even use this concept in your daily life to persuade someone to do something for you. If you’re targeting a particular person to do something, make sure that you influence his or her mind with the technique that I mentioned above. Relate your ideas or thoughts with a particular person who has massive social influence. For an example if you want to make sure that your friend attends the basketball training today then maybe you can say “hey buddy if you’re dreaming to become a star player like Michael Jordan someday, make sure you attend the training today”. It’s pretty powerful to persuade your friend. When you mentioned a particular star model’s name and relate it to a person, automatically the mind will start to visualize the achievements and social status that the star model has and trigger that person to say “I want to be just like you”.
