Simple Gluten Free Pizza Sauce Recipes Use Basic Ingredients

Gluten-free cooking sometimes can be difficult when members of the family have to follow completely different menu. These spices, which are both are members of the mint family, give a hint of mint to the sauce. Oregano provides a rather bitter flavor, while basil offers a sweeter taste. Fennel seed, another spice often used in pizza sauce, tastes similar to anise. Garlic and onion also are two very popular ingredients; they can be used in fresh, frozen, or jarred forms depending on preference. Olive oil provides a smooth flavor to the sauce, and also acts to hold together the flavor of the other spices that have been added.

A basic pizza sauce recipe that doesn't require cooking begins with a six-ounce can of tomato paste. Olive oil, garlic powder and oregano, sugar and salt are added for flavoring, as well as apple cider vinegar. The ingredients are mixed together and allowed to stand at room temperature for about 30 minutes to allow them to blend, and then spread on gluten free pizza crust.

There are a number of different cooked pizza sauce recipes available that use many different types of spices and other ingredients. The recipes begin with one of the different tomato bases. Once spices such as oregano, basil, fennel seed and parley and seasonings like garlic are added, the mixture is typically simmered on the stove for between 15 and 25 minutes. For an extra kick try adding crushed red pepper flakes to the mix. It doesn't take much so remember if you want it more spicy you can always add more.
