Simple Throw And Stick Ppc Campaigns Are Still Profitable!
Throw and stick campaigns is all about momentum, you need to be setting up campaign after campaign... Don't worry about massive in depth keyword research and don't worry about beautiful landing pages; the offer may not even be profitable so why waste your time.
First start off by picking a product; you can go with Clickbank, CJ.com, Amazon, or any number of CPA affiliate programs. Most people stick with Google because everyone says that they have the best quality traffic; that may be true but they're not very affiliate friendly and besides, that's where everyone is doing all of their competitive research (meaning they're clicking your ads just to see your landing page).
I like to start off with direct linking campaigns using Yahoo and Msn (they cater to a less tech savvy crowd). I sift through multiple campaigns (10-15 + per month) and weed out the losers. I can usually tell a loser after 250-500 clicks; if you're not getting any major action by then, then it's time to dump it. Some people drop campaigns too fast; potential customers may not buy right away and in some cases you find yourself getting sales in bunches.
In other cases people just throw up a campaign and don't touch it; whenever you're getting traffic you should be continually adding or subtracting keywords, adding negative keywords and split testing your ads. The smallest difference in your ads or just one single keyword can be the difference between a losing campaign and a winning campaign; it's all about matching the right ads with the right keywords.
After I find a winning campaign I'll either let it run on auto-pilot or I'll expand on the campaign and build a mini-site to start advertising with of Adwords, you can also start building a subscriber list as well or just stick with direct linking and just expand your reach to other ppc networks and media networks.
