Single Opt-in Or Double Opt-in, Which One You Should Use For Email List??

I know there are many discussions out there on the opt-in. Single Opt-in vs. Double Opt-In. Which is better? What should I use? Is it important? I get this question all the time when I coach clients - especially if they are beginners or migrate from an email marketing platform to another.

So I wanted to end the debate - here and now.

Now maybe you opt-in is a trivial issue as it comes to list building faith. It is the base - but it's important!
My choice is the right answer, ending the debate and I'm going to tell you their opinion on this.

Now, let's review some facts about single and double opt-in.

Single Opt-In
This process requires someone to send a subscription request before the prospect is added to the mailing list. Supporters believe it is the best way to build a large list.

Double Opt-In
This process requires two applications before the prospect is added to the mailing list - application of the initial subscription, plus a confirmation of the order. Supporters believe firmly that the best way to include a "quality" and avoid possible problems.

Now, with the advantages and disadvantages of both.

The benefits of a single opt-in
No distractions or other steps leading to a larger list. The perspective from his email address, click submit, and soon they are added to the list.

Disadvantages of a single opt-in
No control can affect the integrity list. Without monitoring, you never know any unique perspective that has chosen. There may be spammers or invalid addresses will not be valid when you open or read your mail.

Viewers may not realize they are on a "list". Prospects can opt-in to a teleseminar thinking it is a time opt-in for an event, and not realize they are added to the list email marketing major. Result? They will most likely retire.
Difficult to measure the value. When a bad address or bad e-mail, it is difficult to analyze metrics such as e-mail open rates and readability.

Benefits of double opt-in
Reduce the possibility of spam complaints by ISP. It is unlikely that someone has confirmed their participation in your list for you to report spam, the service provider. They either contact us or simply opt out.

List Cleaner (deleting bad emails and mistypes). The process so that people enter their details correctly. Prospect Opt-in with the wrong email address? They will not receive confirmation that they have been added and more likely to opt-in again to ensure they are properly added to your list.

Potentially more sensitive. As the list is of better quality on the basis of double opt-in readers are more likely to want to click and open email messages - improving the readability and the open rate.

Disadvantages of double opt-in
You may lose subscribers due to the confusion of users who require additional steps in the process. Prospects do not know they have to confirm your subscription. They could not see the ad on the thank you page or view the e-mail asking you to confirm your subscription. Accordingly, you are the potential loss of new pathways to your list.

Verdict? Do both!
You may request (but not necessarily), which are new subscribers to confirm your subscription. This is the best of both worlds. You're not limited by the risk of losing subscribers unconfirmed by subscribers with a double opt-in and can confirm your subscription immediately after accession (which would not be able to do simple opt-in only.
