Six Sigma Tools Are Guidelines Designed For A Custom Fit

Six Sigma Training teaches a method of achieving successful quality improvements through a list of tools and data that are used to measure, analyze, and change processes. However, too many Six Sigma Black Belt professionals try too hard to fit every single project into a Six Sigma Methodology without any room for variance in approach. This can make any project more stressful and complex than it has to be, because not every project will fit into the same mold. Planning a strategy that can be useful over time will be productive to the Six Sigma Process, but not allowing for deviation from that strategy can prove to be disastrous.

Six Sigma Methodology was designed to provide a framework of tools and processes to implement changes and improve quality across a wide range of areas. That framework provides finite guidelines for improving processes and products, but leaves a certain amount of freedom to the project manager or team to determine how to use it to suit their needs. The Six Sigma Training is very important to understand, but it is not so concrete that one simple process works for every industry or organization.

The beauty of the Six Sigma Process is in the interpretation. Each company, each industry, and each individual team can use the tools given to them through Six Sigma Training to their best abilities and for whatever intention they have in mind.

The tools are very basically laid out, and if you look at the DMAIC model as an example, you will understand the room for deviation that is placed there purposely to allow for the molding of Six Sigma to each different need that exists. Define, Measure, Analyze, Improve, and Control is the most popular method of Six Sigma that is used.

These terms allow for organizations to define their problems in their opinions, measure information how they see fit, analyze the situation in regards to their needs, goals, and objectives, and then improve and control the process in a way that works for them. Their process will be very different from anyone else's, as it should be. The tools of Six Sigma Training offer a way to quantify processes that are normally based on quality and non-data information. However, that doesn't mean that there is only one way to use the Six Sigma Methodology. The success of your Six Sigma Projects depends on how well you use Six Sigma in a way that relates to your specific organization and its goals.
