Skills For Success

If you're looking to be successful, in business, or in your career choice, then you need to learn the specific skills and qualities of a successful person. Other than just plain education and experience in the field, there are a few essential skills that every successful person manifests. The top three are Organization and Management, Leadership, and Selling.

Leadership is simply the ability of one to be able to influence others and encourage them to do what you need them to do. In this world, there is a huge deficit of great leaders. For any leader who is just plain good, most folks will do as they are told. But for any leader who is great, most folks will go the extra mile and ensure that the work they hand you, exceeds expectations. And for any leader who can inspire, those who work under you will go even beyond that. Using skills such as behavior manipulation, mediation of conflicts, motivational psychology, and more, the great leader is one of the most important "personalities" of a successful person.

Organization and management, in particular management of time, subordinates, and procedures such that all things are implemented and operated efficiently and effectively, is the second most critical characteristic of a successful person. This is not a characteristic that you can harbor in a very short period of time. This, like leadership, takes practice, takes courage of making mistakes and taking risks, and requires much discipline. Being able to ask fundamentally provoking questions, and challenging already set standards, is a typical aspect of good organization and management.

And finally is the ability to sell others yourself and your ideas. As Zig Ziglar teaches, everything in life is about selling. When you go to work, you are selling your boss that you are a good worker and that you can produce results in time and efficiently. At home, you are selling yourself to your spouse, and your children, that you are a good husband and a good parent. When you are an entrepreneur, you sell your ideas to prospective clients and/or investors. Literally in everything and all aspects of your life, you are selling. Thus, as the third and one of the most critical elements of a successful person, your selling skills should always be continuously refined and improved upon.
