Sky Rocket Your Click-through Rate!

One of the easiest ways to boost your CTR to mind-blowing levels is by mixing images and Adsense!

Placing images near the Adsense text links helps draw your visitors eyes right to the advertisements. They also help make the ads look more like content and less like ads... which always means people will click more often.

Is this against the TOS?

This tactic was approved by Google... as long as you follow the rules. You cannot mislead people into clicking the ads.

The images that you choose must be generic because if the picture is too specific, the ad link might not have anything to do with it.

You should also contact Google directly and ask them if they approve of the way you implement this tactic. If they don't approve, they'll just tell you how to fix it and you won't get into any trouble. If they find out on their own that you are breaking the rules, you might not be so lucky.

You can contact Google here: https://www.google.com/adsense/contact

An example of something you cannot do is having a picture of an arrow pointing at the ad. This is indirectly asking someone to click on your ads, which is against the TOS. And of course you can't have an image that openly asks people to click on the ads.

Here is a good example of a site using this tactic:

And here is another example using a different ad format and clipart images:

Where should you get your images?

We like to use a stock photo web site that provides really nice looking images for free. Just go to: www.sxc.hu

And when we want more "cartoon" looking images, we search through Microsoft's clipart library here: http://office.microsoft.com/clipart

Have fun experimenting with this method and see if different images and formats work best for you. And make sure you contact Google just to get their approval just to be on the safe side!
