Skydiving - No Other Sports Like It
In accordance with its scientific meaning, skydiving is the undertaking of getting out of or lunging off an aircraft or a higher structure, and safely landing on earth's surface with the help of a parachute. Skydiving is either carried out as a strange recreational hobby or a competitive sport. In the army, skydiving or parachuting is used as a calculated implementation of air-borne soldiers to a special area of missions Skydiving is commonly carried out in groups or by batches. Often, the skydivers jump off an aircraft, but oftentimes from a gondola balloon or a chopper. The normal height for jumps is at 1,000 to 4,000 meters above sea level. The farther from earth they launch, the longer their free-fall time and time to release parachute. Rates of speed may reach up to 120 MPH for belly to the earth and 200 MPH for head down orientations. From higher altitudes, skydivers may experience about a minute of free-fall before he/she needs to use the parachute for secure landing. When the parachute opens (usually at 800 meters), the velocity of the skydiver slows swiftly. With the use of toggles for steering, the skydiver may control the direction and speed for 5 to 7 minutes and aim for a secure and gentle landing. A first time skydiver may hop off with a tested instructor. This is better known as tandem skydiving. In this kind of leap, the student is securely linked to the instructor with a harness. This ensures that the student stays secure and will not fall away from the instructor during the dive. By this way, the student is escorted during the whole process- jumping off, free-falling, pointing the canopy, and finally safe landing. Tandem skydiving is the best effective means to train beginners. However, it is also more expensive compared to the other modes- the static line and the accelerated freefall. Skydiving in tandem efficiently exposes the beginners to the real thing without so much prior training or instructions since they will learn of these things by themselves through firsthand experience. The student need not worry of his/her life since the instructor is liable of everything; from exiting the plane or helicopter, maneuvering in freefall, utilizing the main canopy, to safely landing on the ground. Skydiving maybe among the most expensive sport in the world, but the happiness you get from it is totally indescribable by words. Skydiving is truly a sport like no other; no one even close.
