Small Kitchens – 5 Reasons They’re Better

People with small kitchens will often despair because they don’t have enough room to accomplish the things they want. However, there are some benefits to having a small kitchen and here are just five of them.

Firstly, a small kitchen is nearly always warm and inviting. If you make the right choices with your design and décor, then you’ll always find that a small kitchen is a pleasant place to be. Large kitchens can often seem cold and empty and take a lot more work to get right in terms of ambiance.

Everything is always within easy reach in a small kitchen meaning you can work quicker and get most tasks done faster. In larger kitchens, because everything tends to be more spaced out you can end up marching up and down the room just to get even the simplest things done.

A small kitchen is also economical. You don’t have to worry about additional lighting other than a standard bulb in the middle of the room. Large kitchens need to figure out ways to illuminate their space which usually means more electrics, more power and higher bills each month.

Still thinking about lighting, small kitchens are far more pleasant in the daytime as well. Just one window will flood the room with light, making it feel much more spacious and airy. Equally, in the winter small kitchens tend to feel much warmer and cosy because heat doesn’t escape as easy.

Finally, if you’ve only got a small kitchen then you’re forced to think about clever space savings solutions and other design features. This means that you’ll take more care with everything you put in your kitchen, because every decision is so important. With large kitchens it’s so easy to just think that you can pile everything in and it will work whatever happens. Unfortunately, this usually ends up making a kitchen look even more cluttered and cramped than even the smallest kitchen in the smallest house.

So the next time you start cursing your shoebox kitchen, think about all the benefits it provides you with.
