Some Effective Stress Relief Techniques
In modern society people are under more pressure than ever before because competition is fierce and success is expected of us. As a result many of us are ill with stress related diseases and health conditions. Stress can lead to a number of mental and physical ailments including psychological distress, panic attacks, unstable moods, depression, heart disease, hypertension, chronic fatigue syndrome, peptic ulcers, sleep disorders, lowered immunity and headaches. In fact if you let it get out of control stress can actually kill you. There are many different stress relief techniques, but not all of them are healthy. For instance some people turn to illegal drugs, alcohol, cigarettes and gambling for stress relief. Unfortunately these vices only end up adding to an individual's problems. There are also people whose method of stress relief involves taking it out on the people who are closest to them. Obviously this only alienates those we love most. The good news is that there are some healthy stress relief techniques that don't have any ill effects. Better Organization If you have a very chaotic schedule then it will elevate your anxiety levels. Stress is much easier to manage when you have a clear idea of what is on your agenda and how much time you have. That's why organizing your schedule efficiently is a very important part of stress relief. If you have children you will also need to organize their schedules so that they are in sync with yours. The idea living such a structured life may seem boring but if you organize your schedule the feeling that you are struggling to juggle with several balls at once will soon become a thing of the past. Amend Your Lifestyle Changing your day to day habits is a significant aspect of stress relief. First of all you must make sure you set aside sufficient time for rest and relaxation. Human beings need to get around eight hours of sleep each night and if you are getting by on less than six you will become exhausted and this will make your stress levels increase. Stress relief also involves taking the time to relax and unwind by doing what you enjoy most. Make time for regular exercise in your life too. Exercise gets rid of any excess energy and adrenalin and leaves you feeling calm and relaxed. Some people also find that activities like yoga, tai chi and meditation help a lot. Change Your Outlook Much of the stress we feel on a day to day basis is actually self-inflicted. We put pressure on ourselves to achieve certain goals pertaining to everything from careers, romantic relationships, parenting, physical appearance and material possessions. Stress relief comprises realizing that we do not have to be perfect or reach impossibly high standards. Saying no sometimes is a part of stress relief too. Of course it is easier to just say yes all of the time because it makes you feel that you are a good person. However if you always say yes to extra responsibilities and favors that are asked of you then you will soon find that you do not have the time or energy to fulfill all of those obligations.
