Some Simple Ways Of Boosting Your Self-esteem.

How can staying calm, passing someone a can of beans or getting a [food hygiene certificate] possibly make you feel better about yourself??? Well, it may sound a little strange at first, but these are all very simple ways of increasing your self-esteem. Confused? Allow me to explain...

· Acts of Kindness.
Being nice to other people is always the best way to behave, but did you know that it will have a really positive effect on you as well?? Your subconscious mind will store away each little instance of kindness and remind you of it when you are feeling a bit down on yourself.

· Learning New Things.
They say that ‘knowledge is power’, but there is far more to it than that. If you go out of your way to learn a new skill then it will make you feel really good about yourself! It could be a relatively basic [food hygiene certificate] or a three year Masters Degree in Medicine; the fact of the matter is that it’s another string to your bow. Enjoy your new achievements and be proud of yourself!

· Being Helpful to the Needy.
This doesn’t just mean giving something to charity on a regular basis (but that is a good habit to have!). ‘Needy’ people take on all shapes and sizes. It may be a little old lady who needs a tin of baked beans passing down from a overly high shelf or it could simply be a guy who has broken down.
Haven’t you ever experienced a real buzz of positivity when you know you have done someone a good turn?

· Rising Above the Bait in a Difficult Situation.
We all have arguments from time to time and it is very easy to let things escalate.
However, by managing to stay calm when the other person begins getting hurtful will make you feel really good about yourself. And the more effort it takes to bite down your anger, the more rewarding it will be to keep your cool!

· Take Time to Look Back.
It is always best to stay focused on the future; your plans, your dreams and your ambitions. But it’s also healthy to take stock of things now and again. Think of what you have already achieved in your life! This is a very good exercise to do when you are not feeling very positive about yourself.
We can all feel a bit down every once in a while and thinking about your previous achievements can quickly lift your mood.

These are all very simple ways of improving your self-esteem. Of course, you do not want to overdo it with the ‘personal value thing’ or you will end up being an irritating and over-confident big-head! However, it is really important for you to feel positive about yourself and to be aware of your own good points.
