You have to admit: America loves its dogs. Everywhere you go: Florida, New York, Iowa or Texas, you’ll see a lot of dogs. From the big ones, short ones, fat ones, long ones and even the tall ones, you just can’t help but see a lot of dogs every single day. Makes you think that there are more dogs than humans in the USA. Now that you’re seeing more dogs than people, it probably makes you wonder: what are some of the more favorite dogs in America besides the well-rounded Labrador?
You can’t make claims that one dog you have in mind is the favorite dog in America. You have to look at the facts because you might just be surprised at the favorite dogs picked in America. And no, it’s not Scooby-Doo.

1. Shih Tzu
Ah, yes. The Shih Tzu. The small dog that weights only between 9 to 16 pounds. With its name meaning “Lion”, this toy dog is a cute choice for the many social citizens in the USA. It’s perfect for dress-up at dog shows. Anything from sun hats to skirts make the Shih Tzu a perfect toy dog to bring along.

2. Yorkshire Terriers
Another of the more favorite breeds in America, the Yorkshire Terrier (also known as yorkie) are good family dogs, easy to live with and are small so you don’t have to worry about having a huge space in your house. If you happen to have a grandparent, Yorkies can keep them company. Perfect if said grandparent can’t exercise much or they live in an apartment or senior citizen home.

3. Beagles
Snoopy, is that you? Joking aside, Beagles are another of the more favorite dogs why? Because they’re very active and they have keen sense of smell. They’re good with children so if you got any kids around or if you need to babysit some kids, a Beagle can keep them company. They can also be good companions for almost everyone just as long as you or they have a yard to accommodate them. Be careful though; they have hunting instincts in their genes so if you leave them alone, they can try looking for food on their own.

4. Poodles
Oh yes, another one of the more favorite dog breeds. Again, this breed, like the Beagles, are good with children. They’re also highly trainable so it’s definitely a big plus for those who want to put them up on dog shows. Just make sure to be a little careful with small children… they can be a bit overwhelming.

5. Bulldog
Despite its aggressive looks, the bulldog is actually gentle and protective in nature. They’re good with families and owners so it’s definitely a plus for those who need a guard dog.

So these are some of them more favorite dogs in America. They’re not exactly Labradors but hey, America has a need for other breeds so why not let them have it? From the poodle to the bulldogs, there’s always room for more favorites.
