Specific Learning Difficulties: Let Them Not Be Ignored

The present problem that shakes the world now is that of the specific learning difficulties that draws the attention of most of the educational institutions and boards across the globe. Formerly the parents and the teachers used to believe that a particular student has lack of concentration and a number of distractions that hinders the development of the student in the academic field especially. Even though if the student was seen working throughout the day very hard, but not being able to get a little bit of progress, he/she was often reminded about the formula of physics force x displacement = work done. But the poor candidate had nothing to do with insincerity and lack of effort.

Researches have shown that this may be an acute case of specific learning difficulty. There are a number of such difficulties and disorders that affect the human phychology. A large population of the world suffers from undetected learning difficulties. Researches on this phenomenon is taking place and shows that people with such difficulties failing to cope up with the general standards suffer from isolation and pain. The various types of learning difficulties that are detected in the humans include Dyslexia, which has hogged the limelight of the day. attention is being give to the students with this disorder who not only have perceptory difficulty, but also auditory and visual defects as well as their brain fail to process the information.

The other forms include discalculia, where the difficulty is with dealing and performing mathematical problems as they fail to register them, dysgraphia, where the person faces writing difficulties,dyspraxia, where there is an inevitable motor difficulty, attention deficit hypersensitivity disorder or ADHD where the impulsiveness of the person may be like an attention seeking syndrome, and finally the Asperger’s syndrome where the person fails to communicate in the social labyrinths. These very forms show that what we very often see as careless or unsocial phenomena, and failures are actually not so but difficulties that are inbuilt in the person through failure of brain processes.

So it is the duty of every teacher and parent to locate in their words such difficulties and then proceed to take action against them. Such people often try to perform to the level of expectation of the surroundings failing to do which at times cost their lives with utter frustration. such cases have often been reported from the students of various educational institutions across the globe. These students need special care to be taken of them, failing to do which would be a crime on the part of everyone.
