Sprucing Up An Inner-city Apartment

An inner-city apartment may be convenient, but if you must sacrifice a nice view or the pleasure of a backyard garden, then the delight of other close amenities is somewhat spoilt. But there are things you can do to bring nature into your inner-city apartment so keeping the best of both worlds. Use houseplants to simulate a small garden or replace an ugly view by placing them on shelves installed across the window. Even if you have low light levels you'll still be able to find a plant to suit.

If you have trouble growing plants, buy fresh flowers instead. It needn't be expensive if you have access to some friend's bushes that you can prune. Or if you do buy fresh flowers, don't throw them out when they start to wilt, but hang them upside down for dried flower arrangements.

Artificial flowers are so realistic these days that some people cannot tell the difference. All they need is an occasional dusting. A bird feeder attached to the window will attract some native wildlife and remind you of the outdoors. Or if you are into tranquillity, a Zen garden is the easiest thing to create and maintain. The only downside could be if you have a kitty; he might prefer it to his litter tray.
