Spyware and adware are infecting many computers nowadays. But, not all of us are protected from these threats. Many of computer and Internet users don't know about it and they're using their computer unprotected. Spyware is software that will gather information without your permission and it will send the information to the hackers while adware is software that is used for advertising purpose.
This information can be used by hackers and they can sell it to the advertisers for advertising purpose. The malicious software can change your home page and your search results. It can consume your memory and will also crash your computer.
Annoying pop-up may also be caused by it and it can be installed into your system when your download software from suspicious website. The software claimed it is free removal software while in fact, it's a malware.
Why installed it illegally when you can install it legally? There is another method for hackers to install it into your system. Skipping the legal agreement is not a good way of installing suspicious software. In the legal agreement section, the software developer will clearly said they will install something that will give them your browsing habit information and if you press 'I agree', then you're bound to the agreement. The agreement makes it legal for them to install the software in your system.
In August, crimeware toolkits were being sold worldwide as cheap as $15 dollars. Anyone with the toolkits can use it for their own purpose and this will make it harder for us to prevent malware infection.
Online threats come out everyday and as we speak, several hackers maybe are creating new threats to infect our computer. Having removal software or anti-virus are not enough. What we need to protect ourselves from the threats is knowledge and with knowledge about computer security and online threats, we can tackle most of our future problems.
