Stand For Something

We live in challenging times no doubt about that. It seems our belief systems are challenged daily regarding virtually all aspects of our life. Our government by it's spending and waste, our relationships strained by finances and doubts and even our self doubts as we face the trials of the trying to provide for our families. We used to be able to have confidence in our government, military and even spiritual leaders and it seemed as if we could rely upon them for direction and even comfort. Perhaps it's time to bring it all home. Bring back control and faith in your life to someone who can do something about it - yourself!

Our country has seen great leaders who inspired and provided true leadership but it seems we've found ourselves increasing at the mercy of men in women in government who have only their own best interests at heart instead of the people they represent. It's time for us to take a stand and do some introspection. A look, maybe even a painful look, inside of ourselves and consider how we've come to find ourselves in this situation.

Edmund Burke seemed to have summed it up in his statement "“The only thing necessary for the triumph of evil is for good men to do nothing". We bear evidence of that as we consider our apathy as a people and demonstrate exactly how quickly we can forget the lessons taught to us by our leaders. A great man, Gordon B. Hinckley once said very simply, "stand for something."

How true that has become in the 21st century. It is time for us to risk whatever is necessary to move from a luke-warm, sometimes politically correct position and take a stand. Hopefully, it will be a positive and uplifting event in your life and you'll feel the almost exhilarating feeling that comes with conviction and commitment to something.

If you are the one controlling your own life by standing true to your convictions and letting no man determine your beliefs and your values, then you will find a greater joy and satisfaction in each and every day. Make the very most of it all. Carpe Diem - or seize the day.
