Staying Clear Of Muscle Cramps

They may be tame but if you are a person who suffers from muscle cramps you know that they are simply no laughing matter and while they may not be indicative of a serious health problem, they can be. Muscle cramps can occur for a variety of different reasons and can actually pop up at any old time.

There are many reasons for muscle cramps, but the most common one occurs when the muscles are over used. This can be due to regular exercise that results in over-exertion especially if it is someone not used to regular exercise. The muscles get stretched more than normal and this causes a natural tightening up of the muscles that in turn cause spasms, cramps and muscle pain.

One helpful way to fight cramping is to enjoy a balanced diet regularly. This has been known to be very effective to virtually eliminate muscle cramps. Hydrating with water and sports drinks is another way to stave off cramps, but should be done before a cramp comes calling, never after the fact. Keeping well hydrated all the time is a very good way for cramp prone people to stay cramp free and enjoy the summer warm weather months and during their daily exercise time.

To prevent the pain form returning, many remain completely still while massaging the cramped muscles.
