Step 3 And 4 To Your Family Working Together To Eleminate Stress

It has been 10 days since we first talked about some simple steps to begin working within your family to avoid stress. Remember…it takes 21 days to form a new habit so you are only half-way there! Keep focused on these steps and let’s add 2 more steps. Remember, You are in charge and You can make a difference.

Third: Let’s go back to the Second step with the scenario that you are a stay at home mom. You first should give yourself kudos and a pat on the back because you absolutely have the hardest and most dedicated job in the world. This particular situation will be for a mom with children that are school age. Prepare yourself for the next day. A relaxed, calm and peaceful morning will result in the same type of day! When you are prepared, i.e. lunches prepared or money out for them to purchase their lunch; their backpacks already packed with papers signed; breakfast has been eaten (because this is SO important); and an extra few minutes prior to them going out to catch the bus, you will ensure that stress is avoided and send them off to a wonderful, productive and successful day. This will also set the tone for your day and you will be more productive too.

Fourth: It may be only 6:30 a.m. and your day is off and running. Continuing on as a stay-at-home mom, is your day planned? I’m not talking about becoming Obsessive and Compulsive about every minute, but, it is important to know what you plan to accomplish that day. As in step 1, you already know your weekly schedule and where you have time available. Is today dedicated to running errands, if so, map out your path so that you safe time, gas and money! If it is a day of catching up on housework set your timer to 15-30 minutes for each task, this will ensure that you can make progress in every room. Write down exactly what it is that you want to accomplish in each room and mark it off of your list upon completion. An example would be: first, dust the living room, unload the dishwasher, clean the toilet, sweep the kitchen floor, and vacuum the family room. The key is to look at these tasks in the right frame of mind. Don’t think, I have all of these things to get done. Do think, I’m going to accomplish all of these things today and it is going to feel great! Stay positive that you are able to accomplish everything that is on your list. Your thoughts can be in control of your success.
