The first thing to do would be to check on your Random Access Memory (RAM). To execute programs or tasks at hand, you need a certain amount of RAM memory in your computer or it would be running very slowly. Therefore, always ensure that your RAM is sufficient in supporting your needs and upgrade it whenever necessary.

Another important thing to do for fixing slow computer would be to scan and sweep for viruses, malwares and spywares. This is important as they act as parasites in your computer system, sucking up the memory needed for carrying out tasks in your computer. Check and disinfect your computer regularly for a computer which performs its well and fast.

Carrying on, defragment is important for your hard disc for fixing slow computers. Fragmentation occurs when your computer’s operating system is unable to get a sufficient capacity or space to allocate a certain file and it would them put parts of the file into gaps between pre-existing gaps between previous files. Defragmentation, which is the reverse process of fragmentation, would speed up the speed of the computer while at the same time enhancing its performance.

You could also opt to remove items not used from the start menu that too, helps in fixing your computer which runs slowly. Remove icons which are unnecessary from the desktop as well since they are one of the contributing factors to slow-speed computers. In conclusion, if your computer runs at a slow speed, that doesn’t necessarily mean that you have to get a new one, try the steps as stated above and you might be surprised with the results.
