Stop Dog Licking – Why Licking Is Not An Acceptable Behavior
I still remember that when I was a child, I had one of the most frightening experiences of my life. Well, come to think of it now, it is not really that frightening. But when you are still a child, a lot of things can scare you easily.
So, what happen to me? Well, basically, I was licked by a dog. Well, the dog was not aggressive certainly. But it just keeps on licking me and as a child, I was afraid that it is going to bite me. Though obviously, it didn't.
Now that I think about it, I thought I was pretty silly at that time. But there is a reason why I am telling you this incident. We all probably know that when a dog is trying to lick you, he is actually trying to be friendly.
So, licking is probably not a big problem right? It should be an acceptable experience right? Wrong! As a dog owner, you probably enjoy being licked by your dog and licking is probably harmless anyway.
But just because you like being licked by your dog does not mean that your guests will like to be licked by your dog too. Ultimately, not everyone in this world is a dog lover. And imagine the embarrassment that you will be facing when your dog just keeps on licking and licking.
Therefore, if your dog is having a licking problem, you should let your dog go through the proper dog behavior training in order to train it to stop licking. While licking is probably not going to cause any harm, it is still not an appropriate behavior.
