Stop Looking At Others And Start Counting Your Blessings

Stop looking at others. Why envy others for being rich, beautiful, intelligent, capable or successful? Look at yourself and start to marvel at all the wonderful things you have been blessed with.

It is common to overlook one’s blessings as we tend to see things outside of ourselves. Our eyes are trained to see things at some distance from us. To examine ourselves, we need to engage our mind. Find a comfortable, preferably quiet place. Begin to list all the blessings in your life. It may seem difficult at first, but once you get started, the list can just go on and on.

The very fact that you are reading this article, means that you have been blessed with magnificent sight. Your fingers can move around the keyboard automatically and land on the precise keypad. Your digestive system works without you telling. Your heart beats round the clock. You get to drink clean water. You can smell the roses. You can hear birds chirping happily away. You can feast your eyes on the wonders of nature. You have food on the table. You have a roof to sleep under. You are healthy or at least you can do something about the situation. You have a lovely family. You have the resources to help others. You get to read. You can dance if you wish. You can learn a skill. You can re-set your life button at any time you want and start afresh. Bet that your list can be longer than the above.

Sometimes, it is only when we lose something that we start to treasure it and begin to realise how fortunate we have been all this while. Don’t wait for things to happen to start realising. See the abundance surrounding you. Live in gratitude. Be grateful for what you already have and you will be blessed with more.
