Hellboy 2 is the sequel to Hellboy. In Hellboy 2, Hellboy is required to save humanity from the vengeance of the night elves. Long ago, the magical elves and dwarfs co-existed with men until the day man decided that they wanted more land and power.
The elves and man went to war and there was a bloody battle. In order to win the war, the high king of the elves reluctantly commissioned the goblins to build a mighty magical clockwork army that would know no pain, hunger, and sole mission was to obey the one that held the crown.
The holder of the crown was the only one that could control the clockwork army. On the battle field, this powerful mechanised goblin army tore throught the human ranks and man perished bitterly under the merciless onslaught of the machine goblin army.
The elf king atop his elven kingdom saw the carnage and wept bitterly, regreting to have constructed such a destructive terrible army. He decided to seek reconciliation with man and as gesture of good faith, split the crown in 3 and gave 1 part to man for safekeeping.
For so long as the crown was not put together, this terrible army would never again be used for carnage and death.
Return to modern day, a new age of elves seek to retake their place on planet earth and in order to do so, decide to call upon the indestructable goblin clockwork army that will take over the world.
This is where Hellboy comes in, to defend humanity against the elves of old!
