Prayers have been known for many generations as a means to help people focus their energies and gain strength to move on especially during difficult times. Religious people often cling to prayers to help them feel better after a traumatic experience. Although many religious individuals see prayers as a divine act and would refuse to consider prayer as stress relief, studies show that prayers are very powerful tools to relieve stress. According to experts, religious individuals often enter to a trance like state when they pray that they often achieve that level of deep relaxation. The feeling of deep relaxation often continues long after the person has finished praying. Often times, the feeling of deep relaxation can help lower the person's blood pressure and help him or her sleep better. Praying in the church with a lot of people is a good thing and it can help you feel more comfortable and relaxed. The feeling of belongingness inside the church can be very soothing to the senses.
