Is it possible to solve a problem once for all? Frankly speaking, we do not see a problem here. Still, if the question is asked, we should answer it. To be quite frank, we are sure that the problem is unsolvable. There is a reason for this. Different student unions are created with absolutely dissimilar missions and purposes. Here is the problem. Those student unions which aim to be independent from college administration try to reach their purpose. Still, it is not so easy. Those student unions which are created to unite students with the purpose to have similar interests do not want to be independent, they do not put such goals. That is why they will never be free from college administration influence. How can a student union become independent? Only those student unions which put high purposes may be free from outside influence. The members of such unions should remember that their main goal is to protect other students’ interests. Furthermore, the problem of responsibility is quite important here. If a college administration sees that a student union can answer for the consequences, they are ready to be independent. Thus, everything depends on mission and goals of a student union. The desire to become independent is not enough. Students should support their words with actions.
