Students Tread On New Landscaping At Mid Cheshire College Winsford Campus

Mid Cheshire College has now taken ownership of its new Winsford campus on Weaver Street. Situated next to the Town Park, the new building is a £7m investment in the town which now provides state-of-the-art facilities for a student population of 300 and 73 full and part time staff.

The project has been led by Mid-Cheshire College and supported by a number of agencies including the North West Development Agency and Vale Royal Council, which is now part of Cheshire West & Chester Council.

Pochin Construction, part of Cheshire-based, Pochin's PLC, has reached completion on the new college facility. The campus has been designed to provide a centre for educational excellence in Winsford and will deliver a range of high quality courses for the whole community.

The building is 3,450 sq m (37,135sq ft) in size and is set over three levels. Pochin has completed the construction of the main building in addition to ancillary facilities, landscaping and car parking.

Principal of Mid Cheshire College Mr John Reilly is delighted with the new building both inside and out. “Indeed it is not just the inside of the building that is finished to the highest standards. Paving and walling manufacturer Tobermore, with a base in Leyland, Preston, supplied the paving for the school and have rejuvenated its outside space with their award winning paving” said Mr Reilly.

Tobermore Specification Sales Manager in England, Robert Davenhall, believes that it was the contemporary look of the building that made it easy to use Tobermore’s paving products, “As a contemporary building it is important that the landscaping matches the exterior finish of the building and in this case the colour and nature of the new building meant that a modern design was required” said Robert.

Robert continues, “Another great advantage of using Tobermore products is that they are made using recycled material. Tobermore have an excellent ‘green’ approach to manufacturing and our corporate social responsibility is very creditable”.
Robert concludes “It’s is a very impressive educational building and a project that Tobermore are very proud to have been involved in”.
