Hence the patient does not develop an addiction of suboxone. But in case of methadone there are chances that a person develops an unnatural craving for it.

The other ingredient of suboxone is buprenorphine. Buprenorphine is similar to heroin in the sense that it affects the same area of the brain as is affected by heroin. But the effect created is very different. When this is consumed through suboxone the addict will not be tempted towards heroin. This effect will continue till the time suboxone is consumed. But a person does not develop an addiction for buprenorphine because it is not as strong as heroin.

The best way to consume suboxone is by placing it on the tongue. In this method buprenorphine is absorbed in the body of the addict and only the required amount of naloxine gets into the body of the person.

It can be concluded that suboxone is very suitable for treating heroin addiction. However suboxone is not a cure. It is used in the intermediate stages between addiction and a recovery where the self control of the patient plays an important role.
